A privacy site should be able to explain its own data handling in under a minute. Here is ours.
What we collect
Visit counts. The site runs one Google Analytics 4 property to see which pages people read and how they found them. Google signals and ad personalization are switched off in the tag itself, so nothing collected here feeds advertising profiles or remarketing lists. There are no accounts, no advertising pixels, no fingerprinting and no data sales.
With your consent, Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_RLB91SQYRD, which hold a random visitor ID and expire 13 months after your last visit. Google uses your IP address to estimate a rough location, and Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses.
How consent works here
Your first visit shows a banner with two equal buttons, Accept and Decline. If your device is set to a European time zone, nothing loads from Google until you click Accept. Everywhere else, Google Analytics starts when the page loads, under Google consent mode defaults that still keep analytics cookies off for visitors whose connection places them in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland.
Clicking Decline switches analytics cookies off at once and deletes any that were set. Google Analytics then stays off on every later page. A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser counts as Decline, so with GPC on, Google Analytics never loads. Your answer is kept in your browser for 12 months, and then the banner asks again.
Change your choice whenever you like. The same control sits in the footer of every page as Privacy choices.
Hosting
The site is served by Netlify, which processes standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and delivery. We do not receive or retain those logs.
Contact form
If you use the contact form, Netlify Forms processes what you submit (name, email, reason, message) and delivers it to us. We use it to reply and for nothing else; ask and we will delete it.
External links and the news wire
Jurisdiction pages load recent headlines from Google News through public proxies in your browser; those requests go straight from your browser and cache locally on your device, so our servers never see them. Outbound links go to regulators, official gazettes and publishers who run their own privacy practices.
Access and deletion
Write to us through the contact form to see or delete anything you have sent. Google Analytics reports carry no names or email addresses, and clearing your cookies breaks the link between your past and future visits.
